Traveling Restrictions And Vaccinations

Traveling is the transportation of individuals between different distant geographic locations. Travel can usually be done by car, bike, foot, train, plane, train, boat or other mode, with or without personal luggage, and is one-way or round-trip traveling. It is used by people for a variety of purposes, from business to leisure, pleasure to business, and for tourism.

International traveling has become more popular in the United States than in any other country in the world. International traveling is done on an assortment of vehicles such as trains, airplanes, taxis, buses, minivans, SUVs, sedans, motor homes, motorcycles, boats, and even RVs. Airline traveling is very common for tourists visiting other countries as well as for long distances between domestic countries. Carrying belongings on international trips is very common, especially for tourists coming from other countries. Many airlines offer seat belts on their vehicles to protect the occupants during an accident. Some car rental companies provide seat belts on rented vehicles to protect the travelers from being ejected from their vehicles during an accident.

When traveling abroad, many travelers prefer to utilize short-term accommodations for visiting friends and family members. Short-term lodging may be in a foreign country, on an American-owned business owned bus, train, plane, or ship, or in a hotel or other types of temporary lodging facilities. These travelers can use these services when they have a few days or less of vacation time remaining while traveling abroad. Short-term accommodations are convenient for family vacations, extended business breaks, visiting friends, extended stays in a foreign country for a business conference, or a family vacation to a tropical destination.

Another type of traveling that is common for travelers coming into the United States from abroad is driving. Most drivers coming into the United States have either Canadian or American credentials, which allow them to legally drive in either country. The International driver’s visa (IVA) allows eligible drivers from these two countries to legally drive in the United States. However, if these individuals are traveling between Canada and the United States, they must apply for an exception from one of the drivers licensing exams for each country. After approval, drivers can legally drive between the United States and Canada if they meet certain requirements.

Traveling by airplane or air is another common form of traveling that requires traveler vaccinations. Some vaccinations required for traveling to the United States are Hepatitis A, Mumps, Rubella, and Famvir. For travelers who are travelling to countries with high transmission rates of diseases, a travelers’ vaccination series is recommended, as is a travelers’ series against parasites. Some vaccines, such as those related to Hepatitis A, Mumps, Rubella, and malaria, are only recommended for traveling to countries with low prevalence. These diseases are considered routine vaccines.

Those who are traveling to countries with low or very low travel prevalences of diseases that are considered routine can also apply for travel vaccine exemptions. These include travelers to countries of Mexico, South America, and Guinea-Bissau. Individuals applying for these exemptions must provide proof of travel prior to entering the United States. Some travel restrictions, such as quarantine, still apply to individuals traveling to Canada.
