Poker is an amazing game that has been played for centuries. It is a game of bluffing and odds, but also a game of storytelling. Every action you take, whether it’s to call or raise, tells your opponent something about you and can help them piece together a story of your strength or weakness. It is a fantastic way to spend an evening.
The game starts with 2 cards being dealt to each player, called hole cards. There is then a round of betting. The first two players to the left of the dealer have to place small blind bets (hence the name) into the pot before the starting hands are dealt. The person with the best hand wins the pot. A player can win the pot by having any type of hand, but the better the hand, the more likely they are to win.
After the blinds are placed, 1 more card is dealt face up. This is called the flop. A second round of betting then takes place, again starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
If you are a poker player, you probably want to keep track of all of this in a notebook. This is a great way to internalize the calculations, build intuition, and make more informed decisions. Poker numbers are easy to learn, but it is difficult to remember and apply them in the heat of the moment. This workbook will help you memorize the key formulas and put them into practice so that they become automatic.
